Where Were the Phi’s Over Winter Break?!

Olivia Fiol - PC 14
Olivia enjoyed a family girls trip to the happiest place on earth, Disney World! It looks like she had an amazing time taking in the the warm weather and the atmosphere of Magic Kingdom.

Jenn Dickert, Natalie Cundiff, & Skylar Suppes - PC 14
We are so proud of these girls and the many other Alpha Phis that traveled to Granada, Nicaragua through the Global Medical Training program. They enjoyed both work and play as they tended to over 1,000 patients and went ziplining over coffee bean fields. What a great adventure for our future nurses!

Amy Smith - PC 14
This Alpha Phi tackled the slopes this winter break skiing and snowboarding at Lake Tahoe. Snow queen?! We think yes!

Jessica Albright & Arianna Tonietto - PC 12, Taylor Stamos - PC 13
Jessica, Arianna, and Taylor participated in a Mizzou Alternative Breaks trip to Georgetown, South Carolina. MAB is an outstanding campus organization that allows Mizzou students to volunteer in various places and for various causes. This particular trip focused on Habitat for Humanity and we are proud to say that Jessica was one of the site leaders!

Vicki Workman - PC 15
We love our Phis overseas! Vicki went cruising in the Caribbean this break and it looks like she made a new friend! Kissing winter break goodbye will be hard after spending it on the sunny beach!

Alex Bishop - PC 14
There’s no better way to spend New Years than in the big apple! Alex watched the ball drop as she welcomed 2016 with her family and friends in New York! Not only that, she enjoyed a little bit of sightseeing as well including Lady Liberty and the Broadway play Kinky Boots!

Kaylie Kierstead - PC 13
Through Mizzou Alternative Breaks, Kaylie spent a week participating in an adaptive sports trip to Ruidoso, New Mexico! She spent her time skiing with people of all ages that have mental and physical disabilities. Kaylie also got to spend quality time with the other Mizzou students in her MAB group. How fun!

Brooke Semke - PC 14
When in Rome! We are living vicariously through Brooke as she travels to places like Rome and Paris on her study abroad trip. We are so anxious to hear all about Brooke’s experience when she gets home!

Chandler Richie, Jordan Saunders, & Melissa Valdez- PC 15
Our Kansas City natives and roommates, Chandler and Jordan, showed Melissa around their city. They made sure to stop by the infamous “KC Star Wall”, created by a local artist! It’s always a blast to show our sisters around our hometowns!

We hope everyone had an amazing winter break! No matter how many miles apart, we love to keep in touch with our sisters as we take on different adventures. We are so excited to reunite with everyone today!

Congratulations Clare! Educational Leadership Consultant 2016-2017!

Written by: Clare Hanks – PC12

This past fall, I began my senior year of college and was overwhelmed with the bittersweet feeling of having to soon close this chapter of my life. As I began to think about the future and what I wanted to do after graduation, I realized that I was not ready to let go of my involvement in Alpha Phi. From being on the Executive Board for three consecutive terms to the amazing friendships I formed with my sisters, Alpha Phi has played a huge part in helping me grow throughout my collegiate years. I kept asking myself how could I give back to the organization that has given me so much?

I always loved all the Educational Leadership Consultants that visited our chapter. They were always helpful, extremely motivating, and spoke so passionately about their job. So, this past October, I decided to apply to be an ELC for the 2016-2017 school year! The three-round process consisted of an online application, a phone interview, and a weekend spent at the International Executive Office to meet and interview with various staff members. In the end, I was ecstatic when I was offered the job along with 18 other sisters from all over the country!

I am thrilled to start my first post-grad adventure working for such an awesome organization! Although living out of a suitcase and traveling to different college campuses every week will be an adjustment, I cannot wait to see where my time as an ELC will take me! I am very thankful that I have the opportunity to experience Alpha Phi outside of my four years at Omicron. As the college chapter of my life comes to a close in May, I know the next chapter as an ELC will be unforgettable and rewarding!
